A day in the life of a Trainee Manager

Joe Harrison

Trainee Manager

Joe has gained experience working with two Adparo Group companies – fireclad and harrisonJorge – and is currently working on our London Development Project as a Trainee Manager. Find out what makes Joe tick including his love of history – he comes in handy when it’s quiz time!

Who or what inspired you to get into construction?

For me, it was my Dad who inspired me to get into construction. He would come home and talk about his day as a PM and for me, that was enough to convince/inspire me to get into construction.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I would say meeting new people. Almost every day I will meet someone new. Whether it’s from another trade, main contractor, our sub-contractors and even within the company itself when say head office staff visit.

What does a typical week look like for you?

Organising our workforce on site, making sure our health and safety reaches our high standards, as well as checking the quality of work on site.

What attracted you to work with harrisonJorge?

harrisonJorge, as part of the Adparo Group,  is a great company with big aspirations for the future – that both inspires and motivates me to be part of it’s story.

What has been your biggest achievement in your career so far?

So far, completing and achieving Practical Completion on the BBC Television Centre . A real sense of achievement on a job well done. It was a great project to be involved with and brilliant to see the transformation of such an iconic site.

What was your favourite subject at school?

Hmmm, that would be between PE and History. Love my sport but always had an interest for history – I find it fascinating. Comes in useful at times too!

What advice would you give potential candidates looking to join us?

Work hard, take every day as it comes and most of all have fun and enjoy what you are doing.

Trainee Manager

Having the opportunity to work across the various companies that are part of the Adparo Group is great for a Trainee like me. You really get a feel for the variety of projects we work on as well as having the chance to learn from the managers.
